Sacred Architecture · Devotional Art · Contemplative Light

‍Shannon Zabawa is a self-taught watercolor artist based in North Carolina whose work is rooted in the beauty, silence, and luminosity of sacred spaces. Inspired by the living tradition of Catholic art and architecture, her paintings explore church interiors, liturgical imagery, the lives of the saints, and the quiet radiance of light filtered through stone and glass.

Working from live observation, photography, and prayerful reflection, Shannon approaches each painting slowly and intentionally. Her process is unhurried - guided by atmosphere, silence, and the conviction that beauty itself is a path toward God.

Created in the quiet margins of family life and motherhood, Shannon’s work carries an intimacy that invites the viewer to pause. Through layered watercolor and carefully observed light, she seeks to preserve moments that feel timeless: the glow of a vigil candle, the hush of an empty chapel, the warmth of a saint’s feast day.

Her paintings are sought by Catholic families, private collectors, parishes, and anyone drawn to fine art that evokes reverence, peace, and hope. Original works, fine art prints, and custom commissions are available through the studio.

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it”
